China makers to invest in flexible OLED display facilities in 1H16

China makers BOE, Shanghai Hehui Optoelectronic and Truly Optoelectronics are expected to construct new flexible OLED facilities in the first half of 2016, according to Korea-based ET News.

China makers want to further compete with Samsung Display, which currently holds over a 90% share in the small- to medium-size OLED segment, the report said, adding that China vendors are expected to incorporate the technology further into handsets and other devices in the future.

BOE is expected to begin constructing new 6G OLED facilities at its B7 fab in the first quarter of 2016 with monthly production capacity at 45,000 substrates while Hehui is currently seeking subsidies for 6G facilities.

Truly meanwhile will invest in 4G curved OLED facilities at the beginning of 2016 with a monthly capacity of 15,000 substrates, the report added.
